Gen Z and the Bible: keeping the faith alive among teens

Updated: Sep 29, 2021

From my experience and partnering with the Holy Spirit, teens or young adults need to be in community that helps grow their relationship with God. Bible study, youth service, church service, alone time in the secret place, and encouragement of God fearing friends is the right way to live.

I've noticed once I fell off from hosting Bible study every Sunday, the 17 year old boys have strayed away from their relationship with God. They are starting to get sucked back into the world's standards of living. They want to party, talk to pretty girls with no love for themselves, and then hangout with their boys and expect to have a great life. Even though I told them my experiences and they have stayed in contact with the youth guys, some have still strayed away back to old habits.

Steps to stay close to God:

  • Thanksgiving as you wake: begin with God meaning your day starts with God and ends with God. You bring everything to God and ask for His wisdom and peace and joy in your day in order to do the will of God.

  • Action and sensitive to the Holy Spirit: ask God to reveal Himself to you throughout the day. Ask and you shall receive. Speak to God throughout your day and get to know His heart.

  • Invite God into your heart: invite the Spirit of the Lord in. Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom.

  • Pray, pray, pray: conversation with God and interceding in prayer is to just communicate with Jesus, your best friend, your everything because He is always there for you.
